Workshop in Brussels - 4th April 2012
An Expert workshop was organised in Brussels, Belgium on the 4th of April 2012. This workshop addressed the question of research priorities for Systems of Systems Engineering. It is part of the T-AREA-SoS Support Action; it was two-centred and included approximately ten experts from Europe and US. Officers from the European Commission were also in attendance. Experts were drawn from the industrial, government, and academic communities. The workshop was scheduled between 14:00 and 19:00 Central European Time (CET) in order to co-ordinate effectively with colleagues in the US (who joined using an online link).
It was facilitated by Profs. Michael Henshaw and Mo Jamshidi, and Drs. Carys Siemieniuch, Dan DeLaurentis, and Cornelius Ncube, together with their research staff (Dr. Vishal Barot, Ms. Sharon Henson and Dr. SooLing Lim) at the International Auditorium, Bruxelles, Belgium.
This workshop was a stimulating and a successful event with the prospect of having a real impact on future investment in SoSE research.
The agenda was as follows:
|14:00 - 14:15||Introductions and overview of the aims and purposes of the workshop.|
|14:15 - 14:45||Presentation of initial analysis, based on information received, by individual domain and then across domains.|
|14:45 - 15:45||Revisit the analysis in groups (2 in US and 2 in EU) and edit as required.|
|15:45 - 16:30||Each group to circulate and present their amended versions.|
|16:30 - 18:00||Each group to study the combined data and identify 6 Key Research areas that need to be included in the Horizon 2020 programme.|
|18:00 - 19:00||Each group to circulate and present recommendations.|
